We are fortunate that someone called the police because we might never have known what happened to Buster. Our FAMILY MEMBER BECAME ROADKILL! We dropped him off at a vet office expecting him to be safe in the hands of professionals, and instead he is carelessly lost and killed. The police officer responded to a call that a dog was loose on the freeway and later found his body on I-70 at Sheridan Avenue. At same time the vet tech is telling us that he had lost our dog, an Officer from the Lakeside Police Department calls on my cell and tells him that our dog had been found dead. It is obvious that NO ONE is looking for our dog at this time and we're not sure when the search stopped. He comes out to the lobby and tells us what happened and that Buster is lost. She tell him we are out front and instead of elaborating, he says he'll be out in a bit. While we waited in line at the front desk, the vet tech called my wife's cell to talk about Buster. Our dog was lost in our own neighborhood, only 9 blocks from where we lived and we were not notified that our dog was lost. Denver Animal Control was also never contacted. According to Planned Pet, the vet tech immediately went to look for our dog but we were never contacted. Our dog was very scared of strangers (the vet tech knew this), backed up and escaped the leash. Their common practice is also to use a slip leash instead of a harness, or hooking the leash onto the collar. Keep in mind that this vet does NOT have a closed off fenced area and walks dogs in the busy neighborhood around Tennyson Street. The following day 2 hrs before we were told to pick him up, a vet tech took Buster out for a walk in the neighborhood around the vet office. We were also told that we could pick him up the next day at 12 pm. We received a call from the vet in the late afternoon to tell us that our puppy had made it through surgery without any issues. Six months ago my wife and I dropped our 1 year old puppy, Buster, off for routine knee surgery (luxating patella or floating kneecap) at Planned Pethood Plus. So you never have to go through the heartache we had to go through at the hands of these inept IDIOTS! A vet office whose careless actions led to the DEATH! of our sweet puppy. Just throwing this out there for the Denver pet lovers community.
